BKWine Pick: Maison Louis Jadot, Beaune

>> Tuesday, February 12, 2008

ap14-338-3851Jadot is a big négociant who makes wine from many different appellations in Bourgogne, from Chablis down to Beaujolais. The main office and winery is in Beaune at the centre of the Côte d’Or. But although they are big their way of making wine is more like a smaller producer giving high quality wines. Since a few years back they are working according to organic principles in the vineyards and each plot (lieu-dit), each premier cru, and grand cru are kept separate and fermented and vinified separately. Very well made wines ranging from ‘simple’ Bourgogne Pinot Noir http://www.bkwine.com/images/vote-2.gif to various Grand Crus. They also have an excellent Beaujolais from a beautiful chateau property, the Chateau de Jacque from Moulin-à-Vent.
